try this:
https://mail.google.com/tasks/canvas?pli=1
if you’re running windows, try this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe —app=https://mail.google.com/tasks/canvas?pli=1

Thanks. On the desktop, I actually find this quite handy. And better than the mobile view I was using.
