FWIW the tree-based outliner Maple is being given away today at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com. This is basically a standard two-pane outliner although it does have somewhat stronger word processing features than most.

Thanks for the heads up. At first I thought this was the Mind Map software but that’s MindMaple. Comments on GAOTD are decidedly mixed.

I found the comments themselves to be a worthwhile read. There’s some good back and forth about PIMs in general.
