Corkboard and Index cards

I would like to know if any posters currently use a corkboard and a set of index cards to either outline or brainstorm. Or, if you did in the past, and then you changed to a high tech approach, why did you embrace high tech. My concern with using software to outline or brainstorm is that I will create an outline that has too much detail, that is too complex, and that is too big.
