mysimplegrid does look interesting… kind of Ginko for data. As you say, sadly, it looks like development has stopped. Also, I find it difficult to trust an online service like this that does not provide information about what the fees are going to be. Finally, it says that you can try it free without registering, but when you click the TRY IT button it takes you right to a dialog box where you have to register to go forward.

If you find anything like mysimplegrid from a different developer, I would be interested in learning about it.

Take a look at XMind.  Its “matrix” structure allows you to display collapsible nodes inside a grid, which combines the power of outlines with a spreadsheet. This is one of the most useful ways to display information that I’ve ever found.

You have to spend time fooling with the features to really appreciate what it can do.  I’ve been using it to create historical timelines and am now starting to use it for a “Personal Kanban” layout.

Too bad you can’t post screenshots here.  I could show you how I’m using.

I haven’t tried filtering so I don’t know if its capability meets your needs.
