Has anyone looked at this mind-mapping/concept-mapping software?  Based on the review linked below it looks very promising; many unique ease of use features plus considerable power and flexibility… The “retail” price is $300, “regular” price is $200 and today’s offer is $100 for the pro version on Bits du Jour.

I’ve downloaded and trialed XMIND, but I should state up front that I’ve never been much of a mind-mapper. I think I keep looking for a reason to buy one of these programs and I thought that with its nice feature set XMIND would maybe push me over. But alas, it didn’t stir me. It seems like a nicely competent solution, and for $100 is almost affordable. While the GUI is nice and clean, it wasn’t necessarily intuitive. Panes change freely and it takes some getting used to that. I don’t think it is going to get anyone to switch from MindManager or MindGenius.

Have you tried one of the argument mappers: Rationale or Flying Logic? I haven’t tested them yet, but I’m impressed that they could be the rare genuine development over and above outlinig/mindmapping fundamentals. Provided your writing involves arguments, these products might satisfy one who finds simple mind mapping a bit barren.

I had a nasty crimp attack last night and bought this - even though I already own MindManager!

I use mind maps occasionally for project development and more frequently for team presentations.

What attracted me was the dynamic (non-editable) outline that can sit alongside each map, the ability to draw other less traditonal business diagrams and a simple hoist type mechanism (they call it drill-down) to maneouvre maps.

The help file is adequate but replete with confusing English directions (it is a Chinese product).

Whether I live to regret the purchase, is too early to tell.  :-)
