Is there one tool that will let me search both my hard drive plus gmail and perhaps my cloud such as Dropbox?

Google Desktop Search used to do computer plus gmail but is discontinued and Copernic won’t search gmail.

Thanks,

Garland

I miss GDS (Google Desktop Search) for that very reason. I was very miffed when they proceeded to progressively emasculate it (it could search your LAN too) and then killed it.
How to “search both my hard drive plus gmail and perhaps my cloud such as Dropbox?”

(a) Suggestion: From memory, if you have Google Drive or DropBox on your Desktop, you can set up index/search of their contents using the Windows Search in Win7-64, but that only addresses an part of your question.

(b) Recommendation: From memory, if you install the ($60) email client everdesk (https://www.everdesk.com/) Google Edition, it holds a LOCAL copy of ALL your Gmail (as .eml files) and ALL attachments (as Google Drive files, I think) AND ALL embedded images (as .jpg etc. files), and (I think) ALL your other Google Drive files). You can then search your email and attached documents and documents using Windows Search in Win7-64.

(c) Worth thinking about: From memory, there is an excellent FREE Outlook add-on called “harmon.ie for Google Docs” from harmon.ie for Google Docs. This gives you an Outlook sidebar that provides full access to Google Docs, from within the email client. You can then search your email (Gmail) and Google Drive documents using Windows Search in Win7-64. You can get hold of MS Office 2013 for $10.00 as a corporate home use licence (if you qualify), so this is an option worth considering.
