OK, even though this would be a loose-loose situation, considering that I’m responsible for lots of traffic here, right?

But back to RightNote: I gave specifics; people who implay I’m wrong didn’t, in the past, and that’s a quite unhealthy situation for which I very much hope there will be new info about WHY I’m mistaken.

And finally, the reprimanded part of my vocabulary is in line with that of the U.S. Government, and no mistake there, that’s a fact. ;-)

22111 -

What version are you running (I’m on the Freeware version 3.0.9.1).  AND/OR Boolean searches are working fine for me.  Follow the below to see an example:

1)  Open RNUserGuide.rnt
2)  Select the More Features tab.
3)  In the left hand window, notice that the third note has “ISO” in the title and the first entry under Samples has “template”.
4)  Use File—> Properties to ensure Full-Text Search is enabled (see “Search” in the Help file).
5)  In the search window, Set Search Mode: Fast and Options: Match Whole Word.
6)  In the search bar, enter (without quotes) “template ISO”.  Result—>  No hits found.  This executes a Boolean AND search and no results found is what is expected for this search. “AND” searches are the default when multiple terms are specified - no need to use “AND” between terms.
6)  Clear the search bar and enter (without quotes) “template OR ISO”.  Quick search will quickly show three hits - two with the word template, and a third that has multiple hits on ISO.  By adding “OR” between the terms, Boolean OR search was done.

Using the above, I find RightNote search to work as I would expect and also appreciate the search result speed and highlighting.  Highlighting of terms inside the item seems to be a bit inconsistent, but I find that a minor inconvenience and have reported this to Raul Bauer and I’m sure he will fix it in the near future - he provides good support for RightNote.

As recompense for the above assist to you, I would ask a bit of indulgence for me to offer one bit of input:  PIM tools are wonderful things and I get enormous enjoyment out of using and exploring their features.  I don’t depend on any single one but it’s clear to me that I derive great enjoyment from simply learning how to use them (kind of like discovering a storyline in a novel).  With that in mind, I appreciate that all PIMS have different strengths and weaknesses, and no two users have the exact same needs.  That means that a tool that may not attract my interest may indeed be the perfect fit for someone else.  To reflect this, use of derogatory terms like “trash”, “rubbish”,etc when describing a piece of software may rub some readers wrong.  Like people, a PIM may “click” with some but not others.  Consideration and employment of this perspective is something I think might reduce some of the abrasive edge from your posts.  If you’ve read this far, you’ve granted my indulgence and I appreciate that.  The ability to learn what works and doesn’t work for a particular user investigating a PIM is great strength of this forum, and the tone employed is itself a tool to help draw in interested readers.

Peace and “PIM joy” to you….
