Better Memo - FastSpring

I bought BetterMemo yesterday at good on BduJ

The developer uses FastSpring to process orders. I wondered how it would compare with DigitalRiver, especially in terms of using exchange rates as an excuse to add extra dollars to a purchase (almost $20 when I bought NovaMind).

In Canadian dollars my purchase was only slightly more than in US dollars. FastSpring have set up their system so that my bank statement shows the actual exchange rate. It is honest, and useful for the customer.

When I had complained to NovaMind about the many added dollars to my purchase price my complain was turned over to DigitalRiver. According to Nova Mind, when they got back to me, DigitalRiver had said I actually paid less than if I had used my credit card directly. Not so.

It pays for buyers to be aware and to be beware. (I notice a new move at DigitalRiver: for a few dollars, which appear to be nonoptional, DR says it will save the software just purchased. Me, who never properly backed up in pre-cloud days, now has my system backed up on 3 different clouds.)
