Potentially deadly bug in CintaNotes 1.62

1.62 allows one to have more than one Notebook.

Problem 1:  If you open a new note (File/new) and then want to return to a previous notebook, the “quick link” to the previous notebook may not work:  You MAY get a message like:  “Cannot find c:\program files\cintanotes\cintanotes.db.  That’s because the file cintanotes.db is NOT in this path!!!  If this happens, try File/Open/filename.

2.  DEADLY file killer:  DO NOT try to drag and drop a link onto a CintaNote note.  Here’s what happened to me:  I opened CintaNotes, chose File/New/ and entered a new file name.  The new file opened and I created a new note.  I then tried to drag a link onto the note.  CintaNotes froze and I had to kill it using Windows task manager.

When I reopened CintaNotes, I could not recover my original “cintanotes.db” notebook.  I used a disk search, but that didn’t find it.  I have GoBack, so I used its file recovery option, but that also didn’t find the notebook.  Finally, I used GoBack to restore my disk to two hours earlier.  That finally recovered the notebook.

Have you contacted the developer? What was the response?

Yes.  He responded almost immediately (time differences), asked a couple of questions to which I responded, and said he’d get to work on a fix.

That’s good and encouraging. Thank you for the information.
