On sale today only at http://mobile.dailysteals.com/

The same pen is currently on sale at Amazon for $67.
If you are tempted, be sure to look at the Amazon reviews ...the pen hasn’t worked for some people.
Amazon.com: IOGEAR Mobile Scribe Digital Pen with Flash Memory GPEN300 (black): Electronics - http://amzn.com/B004GB8URY

For $20, I’m tempted to give it a shot, but haven’t decided yet.

From the looks of it, it looks like the same pen powering the Iris Notes offering mentioned here some time ago (though its USB interface seems more modern), which in turn was first provided as DigiScribble.

I’ve tested both its previous incarnations and they worked OK with my computers, though the original DigiScribble bundled software (Easy Note Taker) was rather outdated. The Iris Notes software made a substantial difference in terms of turning notes to text.

If the above is important to you, I would be cautious. There is very little info on the software bundled with the IOgear offering, so I suspect it is not Iris Notes. I also don’t expect Iris Notes or other software to integrate seamlessly with the said pen even if it is based on the same hardware.

That said, even basic software like Easy Note Taker can export the notes as jpegs which in turn can be fed to Evernote, which claims effective handwriting OCR via its cloud service, even in its free version.

Thanks Alexander ... I passed on it despite the bargain price.  Would like to play with one for awhile though, just to see how well it can work.
