It’s name suggests it is only a listing program, but it is also a very good outliner with folders & columns of different types, quite rare nowadays. It exists on Windows, Palm OS & PPC versions. Worth having a look.

I just want to add my own recommendation for ListPro. I’ve been using it for years. It’s really a database in outline form, I’d say. What makes it a little less of an “outliner” is the notes section, which would be the equivalent of the editor pane in a two-pane outliner, is very rudimentary. The other fields, however, are quite powerful.

The sub-item is the header & the notes section is the body of the text.
In fact I like the Notes section because it allows me to store a lot of text in a compact & organised way.

However I agree with you that the Notes section is quite rudimentary: No text size control or formatting, no possibility to add a link in the body of the text etc. But Listpro serves me well as an Outliner & Spreadsheet like database program.

John,

Thanks for the notification.  A few days ago when you and Steve Z posted about it, I downloaded a trial for Windows and my new Pocket PC phone.  I have used Bonsai on my Palms for many years, and have felt the need for a good outliner on my phone.  My initial impression is that ListPro is a very good outliner app.  I also noticed the Palm and Pocket PC apps were half price, so I picked up all three.  I’ve since continued my evaluation and feel l made a good decision.

One of the most important features for me in an outliner is being able to exchange data via the Windows Clipboard.  I use different outliners for different purpose, so it’s important that I can quickly move data between them.  I was happy to see that ListPro can handle copying and pasting multiple items with a minimum of effort.

Thanks again!  My Palm, laptop, and new Pocket PC phone are happily sharing outline data.

And thanks to Steve Z for his opinion as well.

Regards,
Wes
