I have tested Omea 2.1 or 2.0 and these were the reasons against it:
- too slow
- too resource hungry
- no notes functionality like Ultra Recal or ADM
- you can’t add new fields to items like Tasks
- too many features (yes, really!)

Development for Omea has slowed down since it was released as Open Source.

Hi

Latest EA (March 9) also does provide Custom Properties (date, number, text, yes/no) which can be used in searching and views (saved searches)

I also find that the latest version is not slow (yes, the initial indexing is slow - but after that is less resource hungry and more responsive than Outlook [2007])
