I suppose the majority of my metadata is type-specific. But one thing I really like about Ultra Recall is the ability to have some global metadata attributes that I can apply to diverse item types (documents, web pages, mail messages, text notes, etc.). These are usually attributes that center around action management: context, due date, assigned to, date completed, etc.

So, each type does have its own set of unique attributes, but I also can assign global attributes to any item. A web page, for instance, may have some task attributes if I want to follow up on it later.
