Just wanted to say thanks to everybody that posted about Idea Mason. I read all posts about it on this forum, and installed yesterday. Seems exactly what I needed (and didn’t know about needing it, instead being stuck in the 2-3pane outliner model).

There is now IdeaMason 3.1.5, released on April 9th.

Btw. I have decided to postpone my purchase of IM (still took some discipline). It will be very useful later on when I will need the citations, but for regular writing that I do at the moment, I have found it gets in the way.

Doing the viewing in one place yet having to go to another place for the editing or assigning. Having to use the refresh command. Things like that.

I have found something super-simple as SuperNotecards, coupled with MyInfo (or using just MyInfo alone), works better for me.

What are the roles of SuperNotecards and MI each, when you combine them?a

MI as a database, everything goes there initially

Supernotecard only contains the actual writing, and if needed, links to MI documents.

My only reason for Supernotecard is that it helps me concentrate on writing more easily than the others I tried, and helps me get more done. It’s a matter of personal preference (suits my personality and work style best), not technical superiority.

What largely feeds the personal preference is simple interface, the metrics functionality, total words count, and the flat view. And the flags.
