At some point this morning I became unable to see the new page for Chrome in the customary way - ie displaying the 6 or 8 (whatever the exact number is?) sites I have most visited, or chosen to pin permanently on that page.
I have tried to find if I had inadvertently changed a setting, but such does not seem to be the case.
Any suggestions as to how I can get the normal Chrome new page screen back. Right now it just indicates that I have last closed 4 tabs.
Thanks.

After doing a restart I see that Chrome on its new page offer a link only of "most visited" pages, which, when clicked on, spread simply the links without the usual graphic presentation, across the top of the screen. I do not like it as well as the conventional presentation.

Somehow, I managed to resolve the issue which started this thread.
In the process, I found an extension which does an even better job than the Chrome page in displaying web sites one visits often. It is better than the Chrome's way of doing it because it allows more pages to be represented, and greater flexibility in selecting sites.
The extension is Speed Dial, and is worth looking at it.
