At $17.48, a no-brainer. Enjoying this mature, versatile tree and tag-based notes, contacts and task manager. You can keep multiple notes open at once via the floating “External View”...but no “stay on top” capability that I can find.

(I’ve been working with MyBase and prefer its feature set for idea management, but my 5.51 trial has been crashing too frequently to commit to just yet.)

Jerome,

I’ve been running MyBase 5.51 since it became available with no problems.  I am running Win XP SP2.

Thanks, Cassius. I’m running the same, and crashes were happening with depressing frequency. But I’ve made changes in the past few days, replacing CA Antivirus and Anti-Spyware with MS Security Essentials. Only one crash log to send to WJJ, and that may have been from before the change, so I’ll be giving 5.51 a workout today, as the trial period winds down. The crashes I was getting seemed to be centered on the clipboard monitor, but they haven’t been occurring of late.

MyBase absolutely shines through the richness and quality of its tagging and cross-referencing, using internal links as tags rather than the Label mechanism. Full tagging has proven much more valuable than an item’s position within the hierarchy. But credit to TreeDBNotes: it has a built-in live spell-checker. I think spell-checking is a core function in an associative or loosely structured database. Not just because users require it, but because tokenizing and word-matching is a natural substitute for the key-linking performed by a traditional database, and a supplement to manual tagging. I’m thinking in particular of Ariadne, which will give you a list of the words you’ve used, with links to where you’ve used them.

Jerome,

1.  I run Kaspersky Internet Security with no problems.

2.  MyBase also needs a better, Boolean search function.

3.  An unlikely, but possible cause of your problems is an HP printer driver.  I purchased & returned 2 HP printers.  The driver of the first would not let Inspiration run.  The driver of the second caused a 3-minute delay in opening the print dialog of Word 2000 and another 3-minute delay in then opening the print properties window.  I now have a Lexmark and no software conflicts

Hi Cassius

I’ve reported the following to WJJ: Version 5.5.1 locks up for me on the Clipboard Monitor when 1) The first line of the copied text is blank, and 2) I select ?Paste as New Child Item? or ?Paste as New Sibling Item? on the Clipboard Monitor Menu.

Do you get this as well?

Rgds
