Couldn’t find a mention of this in the archive:

> Noteliner is an outlining tool for keeping track of todos and other information about projects.  I developed it originally about 15 years ago and have updated it every few years.  From time to time I?ve looked for other tools to help me keep track of all the things that I need to do at work but I have found them either too cumbersome—creating work rather than reducing it—or too basic.  For no particular reason I?ve now decided to clean it up and see if others might find it useful. I hope you do!

Mark,

Thanks for the heads up on Noteliner. It is a bit rough around the edges, and feels like an unfinished product, but it also appears to have some nice useability built in. It kind of reminds me of a hybrid between Brainstorm and TaskPaper (for the Mac). Well worth trying out. Thanks, again.

I just wanted to put up an unpdate about Noteliner. I’ve been using it extensively the past few weeks as I work on an intensive planning project. I have found Noteliner to be a really useful application. It is a rapid-fire outline editor—by which I mean that I can quickly and easily make hierarchical notes, which are easy to re-order. It has some nice task-management features, including due dates and assignments. Noteliner allows you to choose among four different states for your notes: regular, follow-up, complete, comment. The look of each note indicates the status. It also has a nice drill-down feature, essentially a hoist to focus on any specific note.

You can bookmark important notes (notes are also called pages if they have sub-items).

Noteliner does not have text formatting, and the export capabilities are still pretty rudimentary; although it isn’t hard to get your information out and into another application. Just copy and paste—the tab indentations are maintained. It also has a text export function, which inserts a numbers to indicated hierarcy, but as of now does not include tabs. The developer is planning to improve on export.

And speaking of the developer, he’s been extremely responsive to suggestions, and when I found an issue, he worked with me to fix it. He seems to be intent on continuing development.
