I notice that Bits has this on special in a few days.

I’m thinking about ditching my copy of Partition Magic, now mothballed by Symantec after they bought it from PowerQuest (why do they do it?).

Does anyone here have any experience with Disk Director?  I just want something reliable to create and manipulate partitions when I need to.

TIA

Jack

Jack,

I have not used Acronis Disk Director, but this one was previously mentioned at http://jkontherun.com/ and I thought you might want to give it a look: http://www.partition-tool.com/ .  For the record,I have not tried it out and I am not affiliated with the company or blog in any way.

No experience with Disk Director here.

I have found that using the new partition tools in Windows Vista to work well for minor partition retooling (shrink, extend, make) .  For the major restructuring, I primarily rely on GParted- I boot from USB or CD/DVD using GParted Live. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ ....free, easy to use and kept up-to-date.

I was going to suggest GParted as well. I have used Partition Magic for many years and now happily use GParted Live CD.

Acronis products are well worth the investment as well and I am a happy customer of theirs.

Thanks for the various suggestions.  I’ll check them out.
