I just wanted to put up an unpdate about Noteliner. I’ve been using it extensively the past few weeks as I work on an intensive planning project. I have found Noteliner to be a really useful application. It is a rapid-fire outline editor—by which I mean that I can quickly and easily make hierarchical notes, which are easy to re-order. It has some nice task-management features, including due dates and assignments. Noteliner allows you to choose among four different states for your notes: regular, follow-up, complete, comment. The look of each note indicates the status. It also has a nice drill-down feature, essentially a hoist to focus on any specific note.

You can bookmark important notes (notes are also called pages if they have sub-items).

Noteliner does not have text formatting, and the export capabilities are still pretty rudimentary; although it isn’t hard to get your information out and into another application. Just copy and paste—the tab indentations are maintained. It also has a text export function, which inserts a numbers to indicated hierarcy, but as of now does not include tabs. The developer is planning to improve on export.

And speaking of the developer, he’s been extremely responsive to suggestions, and when I found an issue, he worked with me to fix it. He seems to be intent on continuing development.
