I which case they probably need your support, more than somebody living in a peaceful country.
I bought a licence of MLO over 15 years ago. I use it for checklists for product release, making videos etc. I haven’t upgraded from v1.9.1 and it still works fine on my Windows 11 PC.
Alternatively, my Hyper Plan software ( https://www.hyperplan.com ) is a visual task manager for Windows and Mac. But it doesn’t really have sub-tasks as such (but you can sort of simulate them using connections).
