For my part I am fine with these updates. They only take a single dedicated thread; if I’m not interested in this particular software, I can easily ignore them.
A practical benefit of developers replicating here their progress on new features (again, ideally in a single thread) is that it reinforces the reference value of the forum. For example, a search for “comments notes tasks” would ideally bring up some tools that provide all those three. From a quick look this seems indeed to work.
Bug fixes and the like may be of less interest than new features, but I understand that filtering such announcements before posting is an additional burden for the contributors, so I can live with them.
