Thanks for these suggestions. I’ve tried RightNote and Joplin. RightNote is usually pretty good, but it sometimes has trouble with columns and pictures. Joplin’s Firefox extension - which it admits is a beta - is all over the map in terms of performance, sometimes good and sometimes really bad. It would be useful if there was a single piece of software that worked equally well with all web-pages, but I suspect there is too much difference in the way pages are designed.
