In 1988 the then much-hyped Lotus Agenda apparently prompted PC magazine to produce a cover story about the then emerging category of software called Personal Information Managers. It starts with a short definition of what constitutes personal information vs. corporate information (that resides mostly in traditional databases on mainframes and minicomputers). The article then gives an overview of 25 software packages featuring many of the – let’s call them PIM classics occasionally mentioned here.
Fun read for the nostalgic.
