Thanks for the post! I read the whole thread. Interesting points all around. Currently I’m running the following on a Mac: MS OneNote 2016, Apple Notes and DEVONthink. I am a digital packrat that likes to clip and save everything I find interesting. My 2020 goal was to have one software package handle all this data.  Don’t need tasks, email, lists, outline, etc. 

After some research I decided to go with DT as my archive depot. I’ve bee slowly migrating OneNote over to DT but its slow going (I have over 500 gig of data in OneNote). DT is very powerful but there’s a learning curve. And there’s no migration utility from OneNote.

That’s when I started thinking about text files .....  : - )
