Your advices regarding TheBrain 11

Hello Tullio

I think TheBrain is well-suited for what you want to do. I would make a
hierarchy like:

  Fields of study -> Authors -> Books -> Concepts

But then also have the most important books and concepts as direct descendants
of each field of study, so you can easily get a quick overview. You can also
link realted authors and conecpts together with jump links to make it easier to
find relevant information. That being said, there are many ways to organize
information in TheBrain.

One of the things that TheBrain is not very good at IMO is structuring “linear”
information like notes. It’s great for getting an overview of a complex topic,
but not so much for managing all the details.

You can work around this by taking your notes in text files (or some other
format, like Microsoft Word), and then attaching them to relevant Thoughts in
TheBrain. Luckily, TheBrain handles file attachments very well, but they are a
Pro-only feature. In fact, this feature is the main reason why I paid for the
Pro version.
