Thanks for this. Recently my free subscription to Ulysses (which I got for having bought the software in the past) came to an end, so I went through my own search. I found many promising candidates, and I was relatively happy with LightPaper, although it hasn’t been updated in almost a year. But today I came to the conclusion that I was using up too much time looking for an alternative, so I went ahead and paid for another year of Ulysses (albeit at the discounted rate they were offering).

My goal now, however, is to use Ulysses exclusively through its ability to load external folders of text/markdown files. In other words, I want to use my own folder structure, so that it’s easy to switch to a different editor should I decide not to re-subscribe next year.

(When I initially tried loading external folders in Versatil, what happened was non-intuitive for me.)
