Yes, I wholeheartedly support such independent developers and encourage paying for their software, as I have done.

Given that the software costs money, and is now being offered for free, I was merely expressing my hope (not a demand or anything) that those who invested in the software would be rewarded in some way for that investment if a paid upgrade is introduced. I like to support independent developers and I also like to get the best value I can on what I spend such that my expenditures feel worthwhile. I think that’s relatively normal.
