I used to be a great fan of Ariadne when Mike was developing it. The program was lean and fast, and was one of the first to offer a comment capability with each note in the outline. Comment and notes windows opened separately and it was Ariadne which showed me what a great ability it is to have multiple windows open when writing.

Ariadne also offered the capability of having a table in the outline itself, similar to InfoSelect. I suspect some of Mike’s ideas came from IS, but the execution was always better.

Ariadne used to have a browser built-in, and for a long time I did most of my web surfing and book marking within Ariadne. IS never had this capability which worked in a reasonable way, but Ariadne did.

I think the old Ariadne could have been marketed as a worthy successor to the moribund IS.

There was a time when Ariadne and ADM were my go-to programs. I loved both.

I would still use Ariadne but, admittedly, it has become dated.

When Yuriy acquired Ariadne I was hoepful. However, I have so far been disappointed, though I can see the program is beginning to look like Ariadne again.

However, I am not prepared to pay for what is not completed software, and which is more like an alpha than a beta release.

I think it’s necessary for Yuriy to deconstruct Ariadne 4 and 5 (web browser not in 5), and recognize its uniqueness and capabilities, and building on what was there, create a quality program for 2014. I think it’s possible, and I think he could do well with it - there is nothing quite like it.

If this were to happen I would gladly use Ariadne again.
