Does Anyone Use The Brain v7?

Just to clarify, because you may have the wrong idea, there is no difference between the enterprise edition and the desktop version, at least not that I’m aware. The “enterprise” edition is just the addition of the cloud-based services.

I think The Brain Technologies has always been corporate-oriented. For a while there, it seemed, they even dropped (or pushed far to the back burner) the desktop version. But then they switched from a native app to a Java-based model and they brought the Personal Brain back, then dropped the “Personal” part because there really is no difference now. But if you watch their videos, you’ll see how often they focus on individuals who use The Brain for their own work.

In other words, I don’t think the fact that they are corporate-oriented should deter you if you like The Brain.

I like The Brain, but I have my qualms:

1. $159 a year subscription fee for cloud services is kind of rich for my blood. I pay it, because I use The Brain extensively. It includes upgrades, though I have yet to take advantage of this.
2. As was mentioned earlier, the note function is weak, and is really only suitable for short note-taking. Even then, it could be better.
3. The calendar-based data you can use on the desktop is not accessible online—although it does sync just fine between my PC and work and my MacBook.
