A brief word of information and advice following a small disaster I recently had: I lost a significant number of notes during sync (Resophnotes<>Simplenote)

I have no idea what caused this, and I’m not quick to point the finger at either the software or the service, as I cannot exclude the possibility of my own error—even though this would seem unlikely as each deletion of notes requires confirmation.

However, the main issue I want to write about is the recover mechanisms available in Resophnotes and Simplenote.

- Resophnotes: under settings, there is a Recover Notes utility which provides a list of deleted notes, with preview on mouse over. There will be multiple versions of edited notes, without any apparent indication of date of last date, so you will need to compare them mentally. You can choose to restore or permanently delete individual notes with multi select available.

- Simplenote has a trash bin but I found none of my notes there. The good thing is that you can set up a backup/sync of notes as text files under Dropbox (I use Simplenote Premium, so I’m not sure that this is available in the free version). Only one file per note is maintained. If you delete a note the text file will also be deleted, but Dropbox has its own recover mechanism.

So there it goes; it’s not perfect, but it’s there. Unfortunately I’m a bit turned off by the whole experience now and I’m not sure I will keep using Resophnotes/Simplenote as my main notetaker system. At the same time, I can’t think of anything more convenient available one move in my Android phone.
