Dominik, thanks for the tip.

I have downloaded KW, and quickly looked it over.

I was very critical of the first version and its upgrades; especially at the beginning it was over-priced, and over-hyped, both of which suggested to me that the developers—or their pr people—were out of touch with the competition and what the market would bear. It seemed there was a desire perhaps to market to academia; if so, perhaps it was felt the higher costs were justified. I have always been against the notion that one socks higher costs to business and institutions because a) they can afford it, and (b) they have tax deductions that offset some of the cost.

My first look at version 2 impresses me if for no other reason than the fact it appears the developers have listened to what people have told them.

The hoist is good, as is the simplified tree structure.

I like the forms, the ability to have multiple appearances of a document, or cloning.

I wish that KW wasn’t as Microsoft oriented as it is, since I use neither Explorer nor Outlook.

I wish that there was a way to change font, size, and colour in the tree for ease of readability; this is my concern also with UltraRecall. It will be interesting to hear how well you think the new KW stacks up against UR.

I wish that rather than use news group, the developers would use conventional groups or forum software—it is easier. It is literally years since I have read news groups, which IMHO are jungle cf the world of groups and forums.

Domink, I’d be pleased to hear more about your eplorations with KW.

My proclivity for columns will probably keep me using MyInfo. I would love to be able to return to ADM, but Eric’s behaviour and the lack of communication gives little reason to feel confident in the product long term. Incidentally, I wrote to his partner Arne, and exchanged a couple of nice posts—however, I do not know what has come of it.

In closing, kudos to KW’s developers for making some significant changes.
