For the past several weeks I have been having computer hang-ups and freezes.  I suspect that many/most of these are due to the plethora [extreme excess] of Internet advertisements which store temporary files on my/your hard disks.  I used to clean out these once a day, but after finding 43,000+ one day, I decided to delete them more frequently.  These files are usually small, but the sheer number of them can cause problems, including fragmentation of files we intentionally store on our disks.

I have found a free program that deletes most temporary files.  I now use it several times a day.  It is “Temp File Cleaner” and can be found at   http://software.addpcs.com  .
Note that it requires Java.

Some cautions:

The current version is newer than the one I have been using.  I have not tried this latest version, but will today.

Be sure ALWAYS to check the SETTINGS.  If you want to keep your System Restore Points, you must clear the check mark EVERY TIME.

The program takes a bit of time to load.
