You might want to try the following suggestion by Tom Davis:

I recently had the same desire. Here’s what I did:

1) Create an item in one of your databases and call it ‘Scratch Pad’ or something like that.

2) Right-click on the item and choose ‘Copy’ to copy the item to the clipboard.

3) Go to the Windows Desktop and paste the item. The .ZNK file appears on the desktop.

Now you have a link to this item on the desktop. At this point you might want to copy the item again to the clipboard and then paste it onto the Windows Taskbar as a shortcut so that you can quickly access it there also.
