I agree that NoteMap does not match Grandview—which is one of the best, most useful and versatile pieces of software I’ve ever used. But I’ve found NoteMap to be far superior to any other Windows outlining software I’ve tried. I haven’t tested MaxThink for Windows, so can’t comment on that. My problem is that I am very uncomfortable switching back and forth from the DOS environment to Windows. Maybe uncomfortable isn’t the right word—maybe it’s just very distracting to me. That’s why I’ve pretty much abandoned Grandview. I envy those of you who can work in both environments.

Three great features of Grandview that each item (node, subject) can have a date, category, status or other information assigned to it, so that you can view items by those categories. Also, it was nice to be able to link an item in one outline to another outline altogether. And I liked that each item could be treated as if it were a text document in a wordprocessor.
