John Friend wrote GrandView and, I believe, wrote PC Outline (for DOS) before it. I have always hoped that he would find his way to this site to hear us screaming for a windows-based power outliner. Dave Winer (author of ThinkTank) frequents this site and has the skills to write a power outliner, but his current interests involve a bigger program that works on an outline metaphor (i.e., it is not an idea processor).

I have much of my hopes in Neil Larson, but he has been in hiding (as has his web site) for several months. I may try to find John Friend on http://www.google.com.  I loved Grandview as well, and still have a notebook computer running DOS just for the two power outliners I still use…GrandView 2.0 and MaxThink.

Anyone out there ever hear anything from John Friend?
