ZipMagic does more than just allow you to read a zipped file.  As far as you and Windows are concerned, z.zip is just another folder.  For instance suppose files a.doc, b.htm and c.exe are all zipped up into the file z.zip .  With ZipMagic “on”  z.zip looks and acts just like any other folder.  If you click on it, it opens just like any other folder would.    Then, you can open a.doc or b.htm by clicking on the file—the same as any files in any ordinary folder.  This also is true of c.exe.  If you click on c.exe, the program c will execute.

This is very useful if you have a small hard drive and need to compress a lot of files to save space.  If you want to copy or move the file z.zip, you have two ways to do it:  With ZipMagic “off” z.zip behaves like a file and you can copy or move the file.  With ZipMagic “on” z.zip looks like a folder and you can copy or move it jst as you would any other folder.  One distinction: If you copy z.zip as a folder with ZM “on” and then turn ZM “off” the original z.zip and the copy z.zip may not be quite the same size.
