Graham,

Have you looked at ActionOutline (http://www.actionoutline.com)? I haven’t bought a license, but it has always impressed me with the cleanness of its look, but it seems to pack a lot of the features you are looking for, including OLE support. If you haven’t checked it out, it may be worth it if simple but feature-rich is what you’re looking for.
