<However, I find mind mapping software inefficient spacewise when used for notes; the mind map pane usually only leaves a long note strip above the taskbar which is not very useful.>

I wasn’t aware of that. Visual-Mind is essentially a two-panel outliner, except the note section is at the bottom. Actually, you might say a 3-panel outiner, if you count the tree version on the left. The notes section though is dockable and can float separately.

In double-checking this, V-M 8 crashed. I think that settles it as far as this ‘upgrade’ goes. Those out of bounds messages abound too. Definitely seems a stability downgrade.

Speaking of error messages—it seems to me programs like V-M, Mind Manager, Mind Genius, essentially seek to occupy the same territory as ADM. That is, they want to combine the notebook function of a multi-pane quasi-outliner with the reorganizational power of a true outliner. What I suppose these mind mapping applications lack that a linear outliner more easily provides are the meta-data columns.

Interesting-sounding program, if you can get your brain around that interface.
