Im amazed to find a response to my last Aug message.
In the meantime I found a BLACK HOLE solution, not to difficult either

download the Grandview trial GVTRIAL.ZIP from
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/grandview/ver2/updates/
install it and it will IMPORT the damaged .PCO file and allow EXPORT as thinktank2 which is the same as PCO’s .STR file,  reimport it and it is fixed.
this trial version doesnt allow saving the GV outline though.

BTW file size is not the problem, because I a have some outlines approaching and hitting 64k

BTW: the term BLACK HOLE was used by a techy at BROWNBAG software when a friend of mine called them asking for a solution, they had none:-(

The talk about getting Symantec to release the source for GV sounds good, but I would like the source for PC Outline, since this is now so wired into my operations.  I would fix the BLACKHOLE and expand the 64k max size.

Another asside:  I just surfed around looking for refs to Brown bag software, and found Atlantic Coast PLC story
http://www.atlantic-coast.com/pages2/achome2.htm
they are appearently own and are developing a Windoz PC Outline!!!
so much for the free source!-(

ciao, Bob
