I personally just enter keywords like [IMPORTANT] or [IDEA] or whatever at relevant points in my notes in Brainstorm. I imagine that similar methods can be used in most note-taking applications. Even MS Office’s recent Smart Tags feature could be used perhaps.

As long as one adopts a convention, like putting keywords in brackets, I think it should be quite easy to search notes later, while keeping them in context.

Can you have more than one tag on an item? If not, is there another way to categorise an item in more than one categories?
