Peter, I will try to answer your questions.

First, I have tried BrainStorm a couple of times, but could not get the hang of it. It just doesn’t appeal to me.

Yes, ADM is a good writing environment, and its combination of tree and keywords makes it good for storing data. For a lot of data, especially text-based, information dense journal articles, I prefer the more structured approach to groups and categories offered by InfoHandler.

I clip a lot of stuff off the net, mostly news related. The ADM tree structure is helpful for news, and the built-in browser is now very good.

You are right about my having my data in different applications. However, much of my web clipping does not relate to the more text intensive stuff I am handling with my professional reading.

Re IH and Zoot, even though it may not sound concnrete, a certain versatility might be part of what is in Zoot that isn’t in IH or other programs. Now let me try to be more concrete: I think that Zoot’s strength is in its ability to manage data automatically, using its folder based columns. In other words you get the ability to have metadata, much as ADM has, but in addition Zoot can manage it for you based on dates, times, and other rules.
