The main advantage of TeX/LaTeX users is that they only require text editing features in order to prepare their documents, in contrast to most of us who require RTF. This increases the usefulness of tools like Brainstorm or Zoot.

For example, if I am working on a document requiring mathematics I will need to use Word’s Formula Editor or something similar; by contrast, a TeX user can work on virtually any text processor, including Brainstorm or Zoot. Brainstorm in particular can be as useful in the “brainstorming” as in the “structuring and developing” stages (as defined earlier by Derek).

Formulas, foreign text, tables etc can be represented as Brainstorm entries using LaTeX, moved around and organised with an ease unmatched by any word processor.

Last but not least, no separate tool is required for the “polishing” stage. The completed TeX document can be exported as text and sent to the relevant processor/driver for printing.
