I like Copernic, and was using it until recently when I decided to try Google Desktop again (when they came out with v2). The interesting thing about the new Google Desktop is that it also indexes your Gmail account along with your local mail, which I find to be pretty cool.

I don’t keep a lot of stuff in Word or PDF files, so a viewer is probably less important to me than it would be for others.

The desktop search applications seem pretty similar to me, and I feel no particular loyalty to any of them. Basically, I’ll try the latest versions of all the free ones.
