My philosophy about any software is that if it works for you, it is a good application. That being said, Zoot provides incremental searching within a database. I don’t know if you need text formatting or not—if you do, then Zoot won’t work for you. Zoot is well-integrated with Outlook. And you pay once ($100) and don’t have to pay an annual subscription. I’ve never paid for an upgrade, though I expect to when Zoot is finally converted to 32-bit.

I always found InfoSelect’s searches very fast, but the results are not always clear, as it maintains the topical hierarchy, which means the search results screen is somewhat cluttered with items that don’t actually match your search criteria.
