Those afflicted with CRIMP, such as myself, are obligated to try every new PIM that comes along, in a fruitless search for the perfect information management tool. Alexander, who was the fellow from Greek myth doomed to repeatedly roll a boulder up a hill? That’s CRIMP for you.

But I have noticed in this forum some light at the end of the tunnel. More and more it seems that we are settling into our favorite PIMs. I know I am. Zoot is handling 90 percent of my information management. AskSam and UltraRecall are handling most of the rest (stuff that requires formatted information).

Then again, PIM requirements and writing requirements are two different things, at least in my workstyle. Brainstorm is a great place to start the writing process, especially if I’m stuck for ideas. But it isn’t where I would do the bulk of the actual composition. Most any decent word processor will do for that, but once I transfer my “outline” from Brainstorm to the word processor, I’ve lost the ability to then use Brainstorm’s features to facilitate the re-organizing, re-writing. This is why I’m still on the lookout for a real outliner/wordprocessor… what only GrandView has achieved.

So I guess I remain CRIMPed.

Steve Z.
