[Disclosure: I’m on the Beta team for Topicscape]

Topicscape shows much more at one time than TheBrain. It allows many files per node (vs on/node in TheBrain).

Topicscape can show up to 7 hierarchy levels at one time but it has no practical limit on the number of hierarchy levels.

To work down a deep hierarchy, you double-right-click on a topic at the foot of the visible layer and the landscape is re-drawn around that one. You explore by flying in 3D and you can pick any topic you come across (down up or sideways) as the central topic for further exploration.
