Steve,

Thanks so much for the response.  My computer is actually an hp tablet, so i have OneNote.  It doesn’t strike me as the best for either need, i.e. outlining or cataloguing/database of short research snippits.  I do use it at times for inking notes, or typing in non-latin scripts as notes (though for inking i tend to use GoBinder, due to the way it handles the grouping of ink), but not for what i asked about.  That being said, i’ll try to see if i’m not just thinking in the box too much.

I just downloaded the 3 programs you mentioned, and will give them a spin over the coming days.

As a tablet user, i’d love someday if the ultimate note-taking/outlining/database was inkable (as well as unicode, etc).  I guess i’ll have to wait on that. :)

Thanks to steve, and to all others in advance who are willing to give their opinions, for the ideas.
Talal
