Yes, even the sample files are actually a rather inappropriate use of the program, comprising ordinary lists, better addressed with a list manager, to do manager, or one-pane outliner.

You can often tell whether a program really grows out of a developer’s experience by the sample files. Idea!, for example, provides appropriate ones. InfoHandler provides numerous users’ examples; BrainStorm uses its models to good advantage, etc.

I have commented before on the paucity of examples of ADM usage. In the sample files, Eric used to do his outlining in the note pane (now called “page”). I haven’t checked whether this is still the case.
