> Being able to outline within an outline changes the dynamic regarding one-pane and two-pane outliners. It seems to me, that it gives you a one-pane outliner within a two-pane outliner. That would be an awesome combination.

What do you think of the idea of the data pane of a multipane outliner being impelemented as a browser object, so that you can open a web page,  a Word doc, an Excel spreadsheet—- or an outline, assuming you had an outliner app which was also an OLE/COM server?

For me, the beauty of a multipane outliner is that I can put whatever I want in the data pane.  I wouldn’t want to be restricted to just outlines.
