I posted my idea to the BrainStorm list and David responded with a tip that actually is pretty much what I was trying to accomplish:

“[BrainStorm] contains an ‘intelligent merge’ which knocks out multiple instances of an entry in the same list.

So, Write to a text file, possibly with the indent set to 0. Then
merge the Written file into the model you wrote it from (probably
under a heading of its own (merge to current entry)) and you might get
close to what you’re seeking.”

This means I can write out a file with entries that contain my action tag (for example, ‘[@computer]’) and then merge the resulting file back into the model for my updated list of actions - and of course this list is linked back to original context in the model via namesakes.
